PRESIDENT

OLIVER D. CROMWELL first worked for BANKERS TRUST in 1973 and 1974.  He began his investment banking career at DONALDSON, LUFKIN & JENRETTE in 1976.  Mr. Cromwell was promoted to Vice President in 1980 and to Senior Vice President in 1985 (at that time the highest title in Investment Banking at DLJ).  In 1987 he joined the Corporate Finance Department of OPPENHEIMER & CO. and moved to the Investment Banking Group of PAINEWEBBER in 1988.  He founded Bentley in 1990 and serves as the President of Bentley Associates L.P. and Bentley Securities Corporation.  Throughout his investment banking career, he has been a generalist working on a wide variety of transactions for middle market companies in many different industries.  Mr. Cromwell was on the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors of the SECURITIES INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (New York District), and has earned a Chartered Financial Analyst (C.F.A.) designation.  He has served as a panel moderator and speaker at numerous conferences involving investment banking issues.  He also was a co-author in 2002 of Leading Investment Bankers: The Art & Science of Investment Banking.  Mr. Cromwell served for two terms as President of the Brown University Club in New York from 1991 to 1993.  He received his B.A. from BROWN UNIVERSITY and his M.B.A. from HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL.

In 1994, he joined LADENBURG THALMANN and CO., ultimately serving as a Managing Director in their Investment Banking group. Mr. Barney thereafter joined PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS SECURITIES where he served as a Director in their Investment Banking department. In 2001, Mr. Barney became a Principal at SHATTUCK HAMMOND PARTNERS (the successor firm to PricewaterhouseCoopers Securities) and joined Bentley in 2004. PHILIP C. BOWERS began his career at MERRILL LYNCH in 1982 and spent 22 years in the Investment Banking Department including assignments in Corporate Finance, M&A, High Yield and Restructuring. In 1994, he was asked to join the firm’s Asia Pacific Investment Banking Group to lead the development of the Asia Pacific Corporate Finance Team. Spending two years working in Hong Kong and two years in Singapore, he was able to grow the Asia Pacific based team from 12 to well over 100 bankers in seven offices. Mr. Bowers moved to Tokyo in 1998 and led the growth of the Japan-based operations from 20 to 90 bankers while earning the coveted “Best Foreign Investment Bank in Japan” award for 1999. Returning to New York in 2002, he gained middle market merger & acquisition experience working in the Exclusive Sales and Divestiture Group. In 2004, Mr. Bowers became Head of US M&A for NOMURA SECURITIES before starting his own investment banking boutique, LINKWELL CAPITAL. He joined Bentley in 2008. CHRISTOPHER L. CONNELLY started his career at PAINEWEBBER and AMERICAN CONSULTING CORPORATION before joining the Investment Banking Department of NOMURA SECURITIES INTERNATIONAL in the late 1980s. His next position was with PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS SECURITIES where he became a Director in their Investment Banking group. He became a Principal of SHATTUCK HAMMOND PARTNERS in 2001 and served as the Co-Head of the Financial Institutions and Business Services Practice. Mr. Connelly joined Bentley 2004. Prior to his business career, he was a commissioned officer in the United States Army and reached the rank of Captain. He earned his A.B. from PRINCETON UNIVERSITY and his M.B.A from DARDEN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS at UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA.

DAVID DEMPSEY has over three decades of experience as an international investment banker specializing in private equity and mergers & acquisitions. His on-the-ground international and emerging market experience includes residency and transaction activities in nine countries in Europe (Eastern and Western), Asia and the Middle East. He has focused on China, ‘Greater China’ and South East Asian investments, financings and fundraising and is the founder of China Investment Group LLC. Mr. Dempsey has served clients in a broad range of industries including: financial institutions, technology, transportation and direct marketing. Prior to joining Bentley in 1991 as a Managing Director, he was a Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions Group at BANKERS TRUST and PRUDENTIAL SECURITIES in New York and, earlier in his career, he was also a Principal at the management consulting firm of BOOZ ALLEN & HAMILTON. He started his career at the CHASE BANK in London after completing his term as Secretary General of AIESEC INTERNATIONAL in Brussels, Belgium. He is a member of the Board of Directors of a NYSE-listed “closed-end fund” and serves or has served on a number of corporate, educational and non-profit Boards and Boards of Trustees. He is active in aviation related consulting, financing and strategic joint ventures and is also a Commercial Pilot, Gold Seal and Master Flight Instructor and the co-founder of a flight training company.. DAVID B. EPSTEIN has over four decades of banking experience, with more than 12 years as a merger & acquisition specialist at CITICORP. Initially, Mr. Epstein spent three years as a generalist in the Corporate Finance Department, including assignments in the Private Placements, Project Finance, Currency Swaps and New Business Development Departments. In 1980 he joined the Mergers & Acquisitions Department, where he worked on domestic and cross-border transactions encompassing a wide variety of industries. Mr. Epstein had responsibility for developing and coordinating the Global Mergers & Acquisitions Department. He was also instrumental in building the U.S. Corporate Finance Department, including the first new business group. Mr. Epstein has been with Bentley since its founding and is a Managing Director. Mr. Epstein is very active in supporting his alma mater, serving as a Vice Chair of the Brown Annual Fund and the Brown Campaign and as a Director of the Brown Club in New York. In addition, he serves as a Director and President of his apartment cooperative, is active with various non-profit organizations in New York and Newport, Rhode Island, and was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. ROBERT S. FLEISCHER has very extensive experience working as an investment banker with insurance companies. After beginning his career as an accountant for a dozen years with PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS, he began his investment banking career at DONALDSON, LUFKIN & JENRETTE in 1978. In 1984, he co-founded their Insurance Group, and remained with that firm for almost 23 years. After the acquisition by CREDIT SUISSE SECURITIES, Mr. Fleischer continued for four years as a Managing Director in their Insurance Industry practice. His next position was as a Managing Director at BANK OF AMERICA SECURITIES. Mr. Fleischer then spent a decade serving as a Managing Director at WILLIS SECURITIES, the investment banking subsidiary of WILLIS TOWERS WATSON, a firm that focuses exclusively on the insurance industry. He joined Bentley at the beginning of 2019. Mr. Fleischer earned his B.A. at DUKE UNIVERSITY.

MARK W. GROSS has more than 25 years’ experience in Corporate and Investment Banking, Corporate Development, and Global Business Strategy domestically and internationally. Previously he has been Country CEO and Head of Origination & Client Coverage, Brazil at STANDARD CHARTERED BANK where he advised US, Brazilian and foreign multinationals in energy, mining, agribusiness, commodities, manufacturing, telecom and technology. He was also President of StanChart’s regulated Brazilian bank . Previously, he led AMERICAN EXPRESS BANK INTERNATIONAL in the Southern Cone. In addition to Brazil, Mr. Gross has lived and worked in more than 20 countries, including UK, Singapore, and locations in the Middle East. Other roles included CEO of AMERICAN EXPRESS/AMERIPRISE BANK, FSB, which provides mortgage, banking, credit card and trust services to private wealth clients, Amex Cardmembers and others in the United States. He was Head of Global Strategy & Corporate Development for the International Financial Services Segment of American Express Company, as well as Head of Strategy, Corporate & Investment Bank, Americas at Standard Chartered Bank. Prior to joining Bentley in 2022, Mr. Gross was a Managing Director at WESTWOOD CAPITAL. STEVEN J. GUY had 14 years of Sales and Marketing experience at various corporations prior to beginning his investment banking career.  Starting his career at QUALITY PACKAGING COMPANY, he also worked at DEE PAPER COMPANY, GRAPHIC PACKAGING CORPORATION, KLEARFOLD INC. and INTERSTATE RESOURCES INCORPORATED, serving as the Director of Marketing at the latter two companies.  In 1999 he founded THE PARKWOOD GROUP, where he served as President, providing M&A advisory services to the owners of privately held corporations seeking to develop exit strategies.  After eight years, he then joined WESTBURY GROUP, where he served as a Managing Director for this boutique investment banking firm.  Joining Bentley in 2013, Mr. Guy continues to focus on privately held companies in a wide variety of industries, particularly on M&A transactions.  He received his B.A degree from MORAVIAN COLLEGE.

GRANT E.  HARSHBARGER joined Bentley in 2015 as a healthcare-focused investment banker, having previously worked with the firm from 2001 to 2005.  Prior to rejoining, Mr. Harshbarger served as a Managing Director and Med Tech Sector Head at RBS CITIZENS (The Royal Bank of Scotland), executing debt financings and engaging in M&A and Corporate Finance dialogues with RBSC’s Med Tech clients and selected private equity sponsors active in the sector.  Prior to RBS, he initiated the Healthcare Investment Banking Group at CARIS & COMPANY (now B. WAYNE HOMSCHEK began his financial career in New York, in the Accelerated Career Entry Program of PRUDENTIAL INVESTMENT CORPORATION in 1987. After a little over one year, he was re-located to Sydney, Australia to PRUDENTIAL BACHE in their Investment Banking Group. In 1991, Mr. Homschek joined JARDINE FLEMING AUSTRALIA where he served as an Associate Director, with a focus on Australia and South East Asia. Recruited to join COUNTY NATWEST CORPORATE FINANCE, he did mergers and acquisitions as well as IPOs for five years. Joining SALOMON SMITH BARNEY/CITIGROUP in 1998, he became Head of the Technology/Media/Telecom Investment Banking Group in Australia for five years. In 2003, he co-founded a bakery-cafe restaurant chain that grew to 80 stores in Australia with some initial expansion into Asia, the Middle East and the United States over the course of a dozen years. In 2015, he returned to the investment banking world to focus on companies in the Technology/Media/Telecom sectors by joining Bentley.  Mr. Homschek earned his B.S. from the GEORGIA INSTITUTE of TECHNOLOGY.

TIMOTHY P. HURLEY began his career in the Corporate Finance Department of MERRILL LYNCH, where he worked principally with financial services companies. After nine years at Merrill Lynch, Mr. Hurley was recruited by LEHMAN BROTHERS KUHN LOEB, which he joined as a Senior Vice President with a similar focus on financial services companies. Shortly after the sale of Lehman Brothers, Mr. Hurley joined PAINEWEBBER as a Managing Director. At PAINEWEBBER, Mr. Hurley headed the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Group with 11 professionals reporting to him. After several years at PaineWebber he founded DELTA FINANCIAL GROUP, a boutique investment banking and financial advisory firm. Delta represented a wide variety of companies as an M&A advisor and as a placement agent in raising capital. Delta also performed numerous business valuation engagements related to both corporate reorganizations and litigation. In mid-2006 Mr. Hurley joined KEATING DEVELOPMENT COMPANY, a real estate development firm, serving as its Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Keating, Mr. Hurley served as a financial advisor to that firm in connection with selling an affiliated company and in raising capital for its real estate development activities. JARLATH A. JOHNSTON provides investment banking advisory services to middle market companies, principally in the telecommunications, information technology, and healthcare sectors. Prior to joining Bentley in 1999, he had worked extensively with media and telecommunications companies in cable television, broadcasting, newspaper/magazine publishing, and wireless communications. Mr. Johnston spent eight years as a Commercial Banker at CITIBANK and BANKERS TRUST, first working with multinational industrial companies and then with a diverse group of media industry clients. In 1986 Mr. Johnston joined the Media Investment Banking Group at SALOMON BROTHERS, and during eight years there completed public and private financings as well as merger/acquisition and restructuring engagements. His recent work at Bentley has focused on advisory roles with companies facing challenges of high growth or a need for financial or operational restructuring. He currently serves as a Director of Precision Spine which manufactures spinal implants and related surgical instruments. LOUIS A. KLEVAN has over three decades of investment banking experience working with a wide variety of industries, including healthcare/pharma/digital health/consumer-med, financial services/fin tech, technology, consumer services, energy, clean-tech, and communications. His primary focus has been on private placements for both large companies and middle-market companies, although he has also completed M&A transactions. Starting his career at PAINEWEBBER, he rose to become a Managing Director in the Private Placement Group during his 10 years at the firm. Moving to SECURITY PACIFIC MERCHANT BANK to head their Private Placement Group, he became a Managing Director at BANKAMERICA after the acquisition of Security Pacific. PETER MARCIL who has extensive industry expertise in gaming sector, has obtained experience in a wide variety of industries throughout his career. Mr. Marcil began his investment banking career in 1991 at KIDDER, PEABODY & COMPANY. In 1995, he joined IMPERIAL CAPITAL in Beverly Hills where he worked with a variety of media related companies and industry consolidations. Recruited to join VAN KASPER for three years in San Francisco, Mr. Marcil returned to Los Angeles for two years with the SEIDLER COMPANIES before joining his former colleagues at MERRIMAN, CURHAN & FORD & CO., where he served as the head of the Gaming & Leisure investment banking practice. Mr. Marcil then worked for three years at THOMAS LLOYD CAPITAL LLC as head of the Gaming & Leisure practice for that firm. ALLISON GUSHÉE MOLKENTHIN began her career at BANKERS TRUST in 1984 and was in their New York office until late 1986 when she obtained experience on European transactions by working at the bank’s offices in London, Milan and Paris. Returning to New York in 1988, she continued to work on a variety of international as well as domestic merger and acquisition assignments. In 1989, Ms. Molkenthin joined UI USA, the US subsidiary of Union d’Etudes et d’Investissements, the merchant banking arm of Credit Agricôle, the largest bank in France. Promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer of UI USA in 1995, she worked as both an agent and principal on a variety of projects at UI USA before joining Bentley in early 1999 as a Managing Director. Ms. Molkenthin earned two A.B. degrees from BROWN UNIVERSITY, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for the subsequent year, and earned her M.B.A. from INSEAD in France.

STEPHEN F. OAKES has been involved, as both an agent and principal, in advising, acquiring, selling and financing middle market companies for the past 29 years. Starting his career at AETNA, he spent five years structuring and purchasing private placements for the Bond Investment Department. He then spent seven years at WERTHEIM SCHRODER & CO. , working on private placement, leveraged buyout and merger & acquisition transactions for a variety of clients in Corporate Finance. Working in a similar capacity, Mr. Oakes spent the next three years as a Managing Director in investment banking at ROBERT FLEMING, INC. in New York. He next worked for seven years making principal acquisitions and managing investments in the oilfield services industry as a Managing Director at RESOURCE INVESTORS MANAGEMENT COMPANY. He then spent two years as Vice President of Acquisitions and Corporate Development at EXECUTIVE GREETINGS, an acquisition platform company in the direct marketing industry, before joining Bentley at the beginning of 2004. JOHN F. PATEK has worked on behalf of middle market companies, their private owners and related families for 25 years, with experience in both capital raising and mergers & acquisitions. Prior to joining Bentley in early 2010, he was a Managing Director with the CAPITAL STRATEGIES GROUP of Citi Smith Barney, and its successor Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Previously, Mr. Patek was a founding partner of SHATTUCK HAMMOND PARTNERS LLC, a boutique investment banking firm that bought out the advisory business of PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS, where Mr. Patek had been a Managing Director (partner equivalent). Earlier he was a Managing Director in the capital raising group of BANK OF AMERICA SECURITIES, and began his banking career in the Capital Markets Group of THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF CHICAGO (a predecessor to JP Morgan Securities) where his transaction work involved a diverse group of large domestic and international clients. PHILLIPS has almost three decades of middle market investment banking experience, providing merger & acquisition advisory and capital raising services to his clients principally across the food & beverage, pet food & products, consumer health and consumer products & services landscapes. His clients cover the spectrum from private emerging growth companies and their family/entrepreneur owners to public strategic players; he also advises leading private equity funds who employ specific investment theses centered around the consumer. From March 2017 until re-joining BENTLEY ASSOCIATES in April 2018, Mr. Phillips provided his consumer clients with M&A advisory services through his own firm, SANKATY ASSOCIATES. FRANK SENA began his career with CAMBRIDGE TECHNOLOGY GROUP where he held management positions at two successful startup software companies.  After business school, he joined the Investment Banking Department of SALOMON SMITH BARNEY in their Technology Group, where he worked with clients in the telecommunications equipment, information technology services, Internet, software and PC hardware sectors.  In 1998, he joined CIBC WORLD MARKETS as an Executive Director in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group where he worked with clients from various industries, including travel services, leisure, lodging, gaming and technology.  In 2003, Mr. Sena joined LIBRA SECURITIES, as Managing Director and Head of the Travel & Leisure Investment Banking Group.  He and his team joined Bentley in early 2009.  Mr. Sena received his B.S. from YALE UNIVERSITY and his M.B.A. from the WHARTON SCHOOL, UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA.

PER SORENSEN has expertise working with companies in a wide range of industries, particularly companies with operations in Latin America extending from Mexico to Patagonia. Prior to joining Bentley in 2012, he founded VISTECH CORPORATION in 1993 and served as its Managing Director. The firm continues to focus on financial advisory, investment banking, and joint venture opportunities for clients based in Latin America, Europe and the United States. During the past decade some of Mr. Sorensen’s advisory assignments included significant operating management roles: such as serving as Managing Director of the Americas for a major European engineering/construction company; President/CFO of an emerging Cleantech lighting manufacturer; and as President of a large tuna packing facility. In addition to these particular industries, he has expertise working with companies engaged in energy, minerals and mining, infrastructure, petroleum and petrochemicals, biotech, and agribusiness. Prior to founding VISTECH, Mr. Sorensen had 20 years of corporate operational experience at major firms such as STONE & WEBSTER, DRAVO CORPORATION, WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION, and COMBUSTION ENGINEERING. Mr. Sorensen is fluent in Spanish, and conversant in Portuguese, Italian, and French. While holding relevant securities licenses, Mr. Sorensen is also a Registered Professional Engineer licensed in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Wisconsin. He earned a B.A. and B.S. degree from LEHIGH UNIVERSITY and his M.B.A. from MIT SLOAN SCHOOL of MANAGEMENT, and simultaneously cross-registering at HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL.

DOUG STEBBINS has over two decades of investment banking experience in Tokyo and New York across a wide range of industry verticals. Prior to joining Bentley in 2015 he was the Head of Alternative Investment Private Placements at the New York office of MIZUHO SECURITIES, where he cultivated relationships with institutional investors and represented a number of leading fund groups in the Private Equity, Venture Capital and Hedge Fund industries. Before joining Mizuho in 2005, he worked in the financial industry in Tokyo for 14 years. He spent the early part of his career in investment banking at Société Générale, Bear Stearns and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, working with both Japanese and multinational clients to access global pools of capital. Over the course of his career he has completed hundreds of transactions totaling many billions of dollars of value. At Bentley, he primarily focuses on private placement activity targeted at U.S. AND GLOBAL INSTITUTIONAL INVESTORS. Focus areas include Fund Placement, Venture Capital, Corporate Finance and FinTech. With over 25 years of Japan experience, Mr. Stebbins in fluent in written and spoken Japanese. He earned his B.A. From the UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN and is a CFA charter holder.

PETER WEINBACH has over two decades of experience in senior roles in private equity and investment banking. Prior to joining Bentley in early 2017, he was working full time as Managing Director/ Co-Founder of YANKEE HILL CAPITAL MANAGEMENT (his personal family office) and Vice Chairman of GREAT WESTERN PRODUCTS (manufacturer of snack foods). Previously he was Managing Director/ General Partner and Investment Committee Member at AIG HORIZON PARTNERS ($340M private equity fund) and Vice President of APAX PARTNERS ($70B+ AUM private equity firm). As a private equity professional, he has served on a half dozen Boards of Directors in the software/ services, media and consumer industries. Additionally, Mr. Weinbach was a Director in the Investment Banking Group of ING BARINGS FURMAN SELZ and a Vice President in Mergers & Acquisition at CITIBANK/ SALOMON SMITH BARNEY. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the MARSHALL SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AT UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. Mr. Weinbach received his B.S. (with academic honors) and M.B.A. from the WHARTON SCHOOL at UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA, as well as M.A. from the UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA.
